The Museum was founded in 1963 and its goal is to present to the general public the development of industry, ancient technology, culture and folk art from all over Romania, with an emphasis on the Transylvania and Maramures regions, since 1894. The museum complex is divided into six units and contains 340 buildings from different regions and periods, including old village houses brought in their entirety from different regions in Transylvania, household equipment, wind turbines, water stations, a giant wine, fruit and oil press, a collection of wooden farms, wooden carts and collections of various authentic items. The park hosts authentic art fairs and a gypsy and local folklore festival.
