The ancient city of Sibiu was ranked by Forbes magazine as the eighth most ideal place to live in Europe.
The town is the birthplace of Vlad Dracul, the inspiration for the fictional work – Count Dracula. His house is one of the most visited attractions in town.

On June 30, 1941, one of the “death trains” that had come out of Iași after the Iași riots, arrived at Podu Iloaiei. On the way, 1,194 Jewish victims already perished in the heat and thirst.
